Government reviewing flexible working legislation

January 10th, 2010No Comments

Recent plans unveiled by the government suggest that they are considering extending the right to flexible working to all staff from day one of their employment.  The Work and Pensions secretary has advised that the government was considering extending the right for employees to request flexible working hours from the start of a new job. This comes only a week after the Equality and Human Rights Commission called for flexible working rights to be extended to all employees and not just parents and carers. As it stands at the moment the current legislation enables only parents with children under the age of sixteen and carers to request flexible working hours.
