The recession was hard for a lot of people, many took pay cuts and had to economise, but those which were hardest hit were the ones that got made redundant. Being made redundant is always going to be hard and it can seem like the end of the world, but it doesn’t have to be.
What you have to remember is that redundancy is not personal. It is the job role which has been made redundant, not you. Unfortunately most people will have to deal with redundancy at some point during their working lives but the important thing is how you react to the situation. First things first; it is important to try and stay calm and talk about your situation to family and friends. Once you have been able to take stock of the situation, look into the options available to you and get some professional careers advice and they can help you on your way.
